Our Background

I’ve been working in construction since I was 10, starting at my father’s company building fabric structures. Over the years, I worked my way up from picking up scraps to running job sites and learning just about every part of the trade along the way. After Graduating from Fanshawe college for electrical techniques I decided to go back and work for my father.

Then COVID hit in 2021, layoffs happened, and I started looking for something new to do. I kept seeing these epoxy tables popping up and thought, why not?

Well… that idea very quickly turned into a passion. I’ve always loved art, but I was never particularly good at it until i found this.

Taking over my parents’ double-car garage in 2021, I spent countless nights working on projects and nearly every weekend at markets for the next three years. Along the way, I worked on improving my craft, met some absolutely amazing customers, and formed friendships with people I never would have crossed paths with otherwise.

By the end of those three years, I knew this could be something more. So I took the leap and went full-time in 2024.

Since then, I’ve been fortunate enough to keep doing what I love. My lovely girlfriend and I were able to purchase our first home in Woodstock, Ontario, complete with an amazing shop that has given Schmidtys room to grow!

What started with a kid picking up scraps at his dad’s job sites and a random idea during COVID has turned into a business I’m incredibly proud of.

And I’m just getting started.
